The Female Gladiator Trainee

All Gladiator trainees lived in Gladiatorial school Ludus.  The owner, the honorable Lanista overseer every thing, but fight trainers Doctors do the basic work and trains (in hard way...) the students...
- First I repaint the facial area and visible hands and legs, then I make the students daily dress, plain indigo dyed skirt. The leather strips goes across the upper body and secure the breast area (the upper class Roman women use same sort of things).
Then I make couple of padded (woolly) lower leg coverings secured up by leather straps and one right Gladius i.e sword hand cover. In left hand she got (smaller than Legion shield) Scutum. The trainees and Gladiators fought barefoot. The hair is combed Greek Black Sea Colony (famous Amazon) style.
I think I name her after real (and famous) Female Gladiator Achillia...
- Next I make the Gladiators fight outfit for her.

The Female Gladiators

There was lots of of reliable evidences of female gladiators in ancient Romes history (the discovery in 1996: the tomb of a female gladiator in the Southwark area of London, England). So my next 1/6 scale figure will be woman with attitude...
- In first pictures you can see female figure strait out of the box.  The body is new seamless i.e rubber coated body. She is quite lovely, but very pale and face is almost expressionless.
I must do something about that...

My winter hobby project: 30cm/12" scale Thracian Gladiator Spartacus.

Face remodeled and repainted (new eye brows, lips lines and bristle). I just hate shiny doll faces! Finally some veins and scars added here and there. The Gladius (sword) is home made and some leatherwork too. Bronze armor partially remodeled (bits and bobs...) and repainted.
